About Norwegian Hill Farm

Norwegian Hill Farm is a private KWPN Dutch Warmblood breeding farm on 80 beautiful acres located in South East Wisconsin. With over 40 years of equine experience invested in our business, we pride ourselves on delivering a holistic and top-notch program for all our horses. From their daily care to training programs, and show careers, our number one focus is equine wellbeing.

The farm was built with every detail in mind. The barn boasts a spacious and open plan with large, European stalls. Our insulated indoor arena makes riding in all four seasons possible while being comfortable all year round. In the summer months, our 100 x 200 outdoor provides a wonderful space to soak up the sun and enjoy training outside, in addition to over 40 acres of trails for hacking out and introducing the horses to all types of new experiences to create a well-rounded partner for any discipline.

DeAnna Gruelich

Owner/Breeder

DeAnna Greulich, started riding when she was 10 years old. She was trained and mentored by her grandfather, Richard Bates, who was a very accomplished and renowned horseman from central Minnesota. She instantly fell in love with learning how to train and the special bond she formed with the horses she worked with. She attended horse shows and furthered her education by boarding her horse so that she could ride with other people, learn from them, and take lessons.

When DeAnna moved to Wisconsin in 2001, she was excited to see a large horse community and found a quality training barn for her horses. She trained under the watchful eye of Kate Reuter, a Gran Prix rider with the Dutch stallion ‘OnLine’ in addition to clinicing with various equestrians from around the world. With the help of her trainers, DeAnna began winning Grand Championships in both Hunter and Jumper classes, winning money at some of the bigger show venues in the country.

Through experiencing many breeds throughout her life, and tenacious research she dove into the KWPN Dutch Warmblood world, learning all she could about the breed and breeding itself. She began matching her mares to top-level stallions to produce beautiful foals with beautiful conformation, great demeanors, and natural athletic abilities. And so beganÂ Norwegian Hill Farm.

Over the past 5 years, DeAnna has taken up dressage with a natural aptitude. Qualifying for UDSF Nationals on her homebred KWPN mare Hillara in 2018, UDSF Regionals with Jameson in 2019, and UDSF Regionals with both Jager & Jameson in 2020.

DeAnna’s passion for learning and new experiences as a rider and a horsewoman has helped her grow into a well-rounded competitor and breeder whose mission is to share the love of horses with as many as possible.
